Using Alt and Title Attributes
Alt
Alt attributes are used by user clients that can not display images, forms, or applets. The alt attribute is often mistakenly used as a tool tip. The attribute should be used as text that should be displayed there when the image (or form or applet) is not shown.
An alt text should be as short as possible, less than 100 characters, but preferably much less.
Title
This attribute offers extra information about the element for which it is set. This means it is perfect for tooltips. It can't be used for the following elements: base, basefont, head, html, meta, param, script, and title.
Google Tips For Good Websites
1. Add content
Keep adding content. Search Engines love sites with new content more than static sites. People are the same way.
2. Keep the pages small
Keep your pages under 15K, if possible. People love fast loading sites.
3. Write for people
People are not coming to your site for your content. They are coming for their content. Try to write as if you are writing to one specific person, such as a friend of yours who's interested in the same topic.
4. Use keywords
Use your keywords in the following places: title, description tag, heading, url, once bold, once italic and once high on the page.
These and more tips can be found on site-tips.
Blog Submissions Now Open!
I'm proud to announce the mini blog is now open for everybody!
This is a great way to get some exposure for your own websites, as I'm allowing one link per submission. The posts have to be reasonably short (not twitter style though), but you get enough space to write short to-the-point posts.
Since this is prone to spam, every submission will be checked manually. Please read the rules before posting.
If you have questions or comments, please contact me.
You'll Be Blogging Here
Starting soon on this mini blog, I won't be doing all the blogging myself. You'll do that yourself. It might give you some extra exposure for your site, since I'll allow one link in each post.
One of the best things of this site, is that you don't have to create an account to use it and I'm not going to start with that now. It does mean that posts will be more or less anonymous.
There will be some rules of course. The post has to be small, useful in itself and targeted to web developers, no spam, etc. Like links, all posts will be checked manually before being allowed on the site.
As always, contact me for comments, praise, ideas, etc.
New And Improved!
Welcome to the new Devlisting. After a long time of just having the site just sitting there and doing it's thing, I finally decided to work on it a bit more.
Up till now, most time was spend reprogramming the site. You should be able to notice a bit of a speed upgrade now.
I've got many great ideas I'd like to implement over the next few months. If you've got any ideas yourself, use the contact form to send them to me.
